Do you have a "to-try" list? I started one recently after seeing new products and things I wanted to try to enhance my curls. I love that there are so many options for products and methods out there. I also love the adventure of making new discoveries on my hair outside of the normal routine. I chose 4 things to try out this month and I'm excited I did! Check them out below:
I was inspired to try this hair mask because I loooove making my own products. Avocados are a powerful source of protein with many other benefits, so I thought let's do it. I also like using avocado oil. The recipe I found calls for a half of an avocado (I used the whole thing), one egg, and several tablespoons of olive oil. After shampooing, I mixed the ingredients together then applied to each small section of hair. To tell the truth, I had not ever put a physical avocado in my hair, so it felt weird and was a little messy. Though after letting the mask sit for about 30 minutes, I noticed that MY CURLS WERE ACTIVATED! My hair took on a wavy pattern and seemed nourished after rinsing it out.
I stumbled across this pretty bottle and brand in the beauty supply store a few weeks ago and immediately wanted to try it. I saw that Camille Rose Conditioning Custard contains all natural ingredients including coconut oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil. I used it as a second conditioner after the avocado mask for additional moisture. After lettng it sit for 15 minutes then rinsing, I honestly couldn’t be more happy with the results. Its pear smell is GORGEOUS and my hair stayed very soft after rinsing it out. Definitely a new deep conditioning fave.
ORS Curl Boosting Jelly and African Pride Shea Miracle Bouncy Curls Pudding are two curl boosters that I am so glad that I decided to try together. The boosting jelly contains two awesome ingredients: Aloe vera and honey. The curl pudding contains Shea butter, which I love. After deep conditioning and detangling, I applied the boosting jelly to sections of my damp hair first. It totally lives up to its name because it really boosted my curl definition. It also has a great smell! Adding the curl pudding helped stretch my curls. These two make for a great dynamic duo. I will keep this up but also use them separately in the future.
Like many of us, I'm still trying new curl methods on my hair. So I figured it was time to buy and try some of these flexi rods! I can't think of a time I used them on myself before and I never owned a set. Basically I was ready for this new experience. After applying the curl boost blend, I two-strand twisted my hair then rolled up the ends with the flexi rods. Getting the hang of how to twist the rods was both creative and fun. After letting the rods sit overnight, the final results were pretty cool! I liked that my hair was still slightly damp because it gave my curls a wet-and-wavy feel.
Overall, I'm glad I tried these 4 things for the first time and can't wait to see more results from them in the future. What's on your "to-try" list? Tell me about them on Instagram or hit me up! Thanks for reading! With love, S
