Top 3 Summer Styles! + Video

September 8, 2016

I know I'm not the only one when I say that I love summertime, and I really don't want to see it go. But oh, what a great summer it has been! What's more, I've had a great time trying out styles with my hair. This summer I got a little more creative, but also aimed for chill, laid-back hair. I picked three styles that I really enjoyed wearing. Check out my Summer Top 3 recap below:

Style #1: The Loose-Curl Fro

This style mixed loose curls and fro. On dry hair, I take small sections, and add a generous amount of leave-in conditioner spray, hair butter, and hair mousse. Next, I roll each section of hair using small and medium rollers as well as bobby pins for hold. After two hours, I take the rollers out. Then I use my fingers and a hair pic to fro out the curls. I let the rollers sit in for only 2 hours instead of overnight to have a wet fro-and-go effect. You can keep the rollers in longer or only use the hair pic lightly for tighter, more defined curls.

Style #2: The Goddess Twist

This summer was my first time trying this style, and I'm glad I did! It was convenient and elegant. Another good reason: I was able to let my hair chill for days at a time. I start with it combed to the front and sides. Then I add hair mousse, and begin the first two-strand twist at the front of my head on the right. I twist the hair around the outer portion of my head to the back. I tuck the twist and use a bobby pin to secure it. Then I repeat this for the hair on the left side. I will likely keep wearing this easy and convenient style in the next seasons.

Style #3: The Loose-Curl Fro + Goddess Twist

I liked trying out this style over the summer. It adds a little pizzaz and is simply fun. Yes to fun hair! I start with the loose-curl fro. After picking it out, I separate the hair into two sections in the front part of my head. Then on the right side, I two-strand twist the hair around my head to my ears. I use a bobby pin to secure the twist. I repeat this with the hair on the left side. This became my go-to style for when I didn't have much time to spend on my hair. I'll keep this style in the bag for when I want to add some spice to my ensemble.

All in all, my hair and I had a cool summer. I look forward to next summer and will continue perfecting these styles. What were some of your favorite summer styles? Let me know on Facebook. Thanks for reading! With love, S
